Sparkling blue baubles adorn this red-themed Christmas tree nebula, as ‘decorated’ by ESO’s Wide Field Imager. Here, red represents huge gas clouds glowing under the intense ultra-violet light coming from energetic hot young stars, while the stars themselves appear blue.
