Cratered Ceres

Having spent more than a month orbiting on the dark side of dwarf planet Ceres, NASA’s Dawn spacecraft has returned the highest-resolution views to date of this intriguing world’s sunlit north pole.

Now less than three weeks away from its historic rendezvous with dwarf planet Ceres, the latest images from NASA’s Dawn spacecraft show a myriad of craters and mysterious bright spots on the tiny world.

Detailed analysis indicates the dwarf planet Ceres may be geologically active with ongoing cryovolcanism.
