Solar Dynamics Observatory captures magnetic spectacle

NASA’s Solar Dynamics Observatory captured a spectacular view of the sun’s only currently active region 24 April, showing shimmering magnetic field lines illuminated by electrically charged particles spiraling along them and emitting ultraviolet light. This region did not erupt in a significant solar storm, although “it still might,” NASA says.
