Galaxy Gallery: Arp 148
The aftermath of a dramatic collision which resulted in the formation of a ring-shaped galaxy exhaling a cigar-shaped companion. It is likely that the initial collision created a huge shock wave that first drew matter into a central point before spewing it out in an expanding ring.
