It IS rocket science!

Helen Keen loves space rockets. She brings their story to life with a fusion of stand-up comedy and tinfoil in her award-winning show, soon to be a BBC Radio 4 series. Join her for a joyful exploration of stargazing, space-racing, and the boundless possibilities of an infinite Universe. With the aid of some distinctive visual aids, including cardboard cut-out rockets and a screenful of shadow puppets, It Is Rocket Science! will take you on a whistle stop tour around the Great Brains who put monkeys, ladies, dogs and gentlemen into orbit. Helen's show has entertained and informed audiences from the Edinburgh Fringe to the National Space Centre in Leicester and the Science Museum in London. The website chortle.co.uk described it as 'Geeky fun, part way between the Royal Institution Christmas Lectures, QI, Blue Peter and some dodgy Sixties Czechoslovakian children's animation'.

About Helen Keen

Helen Keen is a comedian and writer. In 2005 she won the first Channel 4 New Comedy Writing Award. Since then she has written for, among others, Channel 4's Friday Night Project and BBC Radio 4's The Now Show. Her live shows mix stand-up with science, storytelling and homemade props, spinning comedy out of such arcane and unlikely subjects as 19th-century Arctic exploration or the development of the space rocket. A BBC Radio 4 series, also called It Is Rocket Science, is due to begin transmission in March.
