Galaxy Gallery: NGC 454
An irregular gas-rich blue galaxy plays cat and mouse with a large red elliptical galaxy. Although in the early stages of interaction, both players are already sporting serious wounds. The bright knots of young blue stars to the left of the image have bled from the irregular galaxy, and dust lanes penetrate deep into the core of the elliptical galaxy.
